For people with disabilities, innovative technologies such as artificial organs or robots can increase quality of life to a significant extent. To do this, technology needs to be adapted to meet individual needs. The programme in Human-Technology Interaction combines technical subjects such as Information Technology and Electrical Engineering with psychological and social and health science subjects. The programme will enable you to acquire the necessary skills to analyse needs and be able to describe them in such a way that it is possible to develop innovative technical solutions as a result. Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering includes planning, calculating, constructing and overseeing engineered structures both above and below the ground. On this course you will become familiar with a wide variety of building materials and how they are used to construct buildings or roads. You will perform building calculations and examine individual components in the lab. The dual track programme leads to a university degree as a civil engineer and will also enable you to qualify for a construction-related occupation. Vocational training takes place outside the university and is organised by Magdeburg’s construction education centre (‘Baubildungszentrum Magdeburg’). The degree programme consists of three semesters of practical training and six semesters of theoretical study. During the first six semesters, students alternate each semester between studying and training. The final three semesters are spent entirely at the university. Further information

If you study Sign Language Interpreting, you will be prepared to work professionally as a linguistic conduit between the hearing, who use spoken language, and the deaf and hearing-impaired, who prefer sign language as a means of communication. Employment opportunities can be found wherever the hearing and the deaf meet and communicate, for example at work, in healthcare, in public authorities, courts of law, at cultural events or in the media. Our world is becoming increasingly complex, with the media also undergoing ever more rapid transformations. On the course in Journalism, students are trained to be able to explain these complex relationships in simple terms and to be in a position to do so using a wide range of media methods, be they traditional or cross-media.
