Language requirements

 

Please note, that the language of instruction at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences is German in nearly all programmes. Foreign applicants have to prove adequate language skills in German.

There are different language level requirements for our degree programmes, which can be fulfilled by means of appropriate certificates or references. These requirements are structured as follows:

Bachelor’s programme Language and Communication in Organizations

Evidence by:

  • DSH 3
  • TestDaF (minimun 3x level 5 and 1x level 4 in the examination modules)
  • Equivalent certificates
  • In addition, evidence must be provided of knowledge of the English language to level B2.

Requirements for English study programmes

Bachelor’s programme Sustainable Ressources, Engineering and Management

Evidence by:

  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), iBT 72-94 points
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System), points 5.0
  • telc B2-Certificate
  • UNIcert II
  • Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE)
  • Equivalent certificates

Decisions on individual cases will be made by the Board of Examiners.

In the case of university entrance qualifications from Australia, Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand or the USA or a degree completed there, no further certificate of English language skills needs to be submitted. The same applies to any other degree completed in English.

Master’s Programme Water Engineering

Evidence by:

  • IELTS exam – 5 points
  • Cambridge exam – First Certificate in English FCE (A-C)
  • TOEIC – 541 points
  • TOEFL iBT – 87 points (computer based)
  • UNIcert II
  • ALTE level – Level 3
  • Equivalent certificates

Decisions on individual cases will be made by the Board of Examiners.

Applicants may be exempt from providing evidence of their English language skills if they were taught in a bilingual school (to at least the end of year 10), they are native speakers, or can show evidence of a period of at least half a year spent at an English-speaking school, university or other institution.
